Student Code of Conduct

Pentagon MMA Student Code of Conduct to promote a safe and considerate atmosphere for the study of martial arts.

Student Code of Conduct

In order to promote a safe and considerate atmosphere for the study of martial arts, please follow these few simple rules to ensure everyone has a clean, positive experience.

  1. I will train with an open and positive attitude.  I understand the importance of etiquette as a requirement for training at Pentagon MMA.  A proper attitude gives meaning to training.  Each class begins and ends with a bow.  A bow does not signify worship.  It is a sign of humility, sincerity, and respect—for the instructor, for my classmates, for myself, and for my attitude toward training.
  2. Pentagon MMA is a shoe-free facility.  In order to maintain cleanliness on and off the mat, I will remove my shoes at the door and place them on the shoe rack.
  3. I will be punctual in my payment of dues and in my class attendance.  I will arrive a few minutes before class so that I have enough time to change clothes, wrap my hands, stretch, and mentally prepare.
  4. I will observe good grooming and hygiene habits and maintain a clean facility as part of my training.  I understand that my person, my uniform, and the facility reflect my attitude toward my training.  I will wash my gear (Gi, Hand Wraps, etc.) often and well.
  5.  I will treat my partner as myself.  I will not attack harder than I want my partner to attack me.  I will not throw harder than I want to be thrown.  I understand that change starts from within.  I will focus on myself—my posture and footwork—instead of trying to overpower my partner.  I understand that true learning is in self-control.
  6. I will sign in at the reception desk before using the facility.
  7. I will always follow instructions on training techniques and proper use of the training equipment.  I will ask for instructions when necessary.
  8. I will clean up after myself, storing my equipment in the cubbies provided, and always dispose of trash in the proper places.
